Here are a few steps to prepare for a remote online notary appointment:

  1. Review requirements: Familiarize yourself with the specific requirements of the state in which the notarization is taking place, including the type of documents that can be notarized remotely.
  2. Gather necessary documents: Collect the documents that need to be notarized and make sure they are properly completed and ready for the notary to review.
  3. Check technology requirements: Ensure you have a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone to participate in the video call.
  4. Choose a secure location: Select a private and secure location for the notarization to take place, where you can present the required documents and participate in the video call without interruption.
  5. Verify identity: Have a government-issued photo ID ready to present to the notary during the video call to verify your identity.
  6. Test video conferencing: Prior to the appointment, test the video conferencing platform to ensure it is working properly and you are comfortable with the technology.

By following these steps, you will be well-prepared for a successful remote online notary appointment.

A notary public is a public official appointed by the government to witness the signing of important documents and administer oaths. They help prevent fraud by verifying the identities of the individuals involved and ensuring the documents are executed correctly.

Yes, remote notarizations employ robust security measures to ensure the integrity and authenticity of the process. Encryption, multi-factor authentication, and tamper-evident technology are commonly used to protect the documents and the notarial act.

When you book an appointment, you will personally upload your documents through a secure link. Once the notarization session is complete, you along with any parties related in the transaction will have access to the notarized document. The notary will no longer have access to the notarized document once the session is complete. At Emile Notary, we delete all original documents uploaded by the signer 3 days following the appointment.  Documents are protected and securely stored using digital encryption before and after the appointment, ensuring that only the assigned notary has access to them.
